Football is back in September

With the Reds season pretty much an afterthought by September, it was officially football season.

The excitement around the Bengals and the Bearcats, including the newly renovated Nippert Stadium, was pretty high. People were ready to move on from all of the talk of Reds trades and get to back to football.

The reopening of Nippert Stadium was another big checkmark on my list of reasons for coming back to Cincinnati, and as a University of Cincinnati alumnist it was pretty cool to document the first game back in the historic stadium. Of course it rained.

Actually, by my recollection, I didn’t shoot a single game at Nippert Stadium in 2015 that didn’t get rained on.

The renovations were beautiful though and it was really fun to see the renewed enthusiasm in the student section. By the time I had graduated from UC a lot of the Bearcats fandom had waned from the height of the Brian Kelly years and you didn’t see the sell out crowds in the student section anymore. It looked like a lot of that energy had returned while I was gone.

This was my first season covering an NFL team full-time and it got off to a great start. The Bengals went on to an 8-0 start in 2015 and Kareem Elgazzar and I got to team up for all the coverage.
